Milan, July 16, 2025 – “I believe it is necessary to have a more complete picture of the findings that are emerging in these hours . I can only say that the Administration does not recognize itself in the interpretation that is being reported.” These are the first words of the Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala , regarding the investigations into urban planning with the Prosecutor's Office, which has requested house arrest for his councilor for Urban Regeneration, Giancarlo Tancredi .
"For several months, the municipal administration has been undertaking a reorganization process and has taken new measures ," added Milan's mayor. "The latest developments must be understood and evaluated so that the valuable work undertaken is not undermined." Regarding Tancredi, Sala specified that "the councilor is consulting with his lawyers before taking any action." Tancredi and Sala reportedly met at Palazzo Marino, a face-to-face meeting that reportedly lasted over an hour.
Today's investigation concerns an alleged corruption scheme for which the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office has requested the arrest of six people, including Giancarlo Tancredi, the City's Councilor for Urban Regeneration, and entrepreneur Manfredi Catella , founder and CEO of the Coima Group. This morning, the Milan Financial Police Unit seized documents, with a production order, from City Hall offices, as well as conducting 24 searches of homes and premises.
